Congratulations on 50 years of gallery exhibitions, beginner to master classes, live performances, national art festivals and a dedication to bring the arts to all.

The Art League has come a long way since it was founded in 1960 with 15 members and one teacher. We now have more than 1500 members, and a large staff of exceptional teachers.

Though many things have changed through the years, the strong yearning for art has remained the same. Members yearn not only for art themselves, but strive to bring art to the community which they live in.

Perhaps the original founders dreamed of one day having a beautiful campus with workshops and lectures, a live performing series and exciting gallery exhibitions. Aren’t we lucky that they planted a seed for us to nuture and grow into the fabulous Art League programs that we enjoy today. Imagine 50 years from now when the seeds we are planting now continue to grow and ripen.

None of this would be possible without all of the members and wonderful volunteers that put so many thousands of hours of work into our organization. Thank you.

We are holding event to celebrate this 50 Years of Excellence in the Arts on Friday, Feb. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy live music under the stars, hors d’oeuvre stations and wine.

Local bakeries are creating fabulous cakes to be enjoyed at the event and to be won during a silent auction. Those attending will have the chance to win delicious cakes by Mikkelsen’s, Kakes by Karen, Roys’s, Fresh Market, Carrabas and Publix. Each cake is showcased by a cake platter, pedestal or dome that was created by an artist or donated by friends or members of the Art League.

Please join us for this campus-wide Open House and opening reception for the Annual Members Exhibition opening as well as the work that students are creating in the classrooms.
