Youth Theater presents ‘Bad Play’

On Friday, July 30 the Center for the Arts Youth Theater Department will debut their play “All I Really Need to Know I Learned by Being in a Bad Play” by Werner Trieschmann.
The cast, ranging in ages from 11 to 14 have been in rehearsal since May. The play is based on several disastrous theatrical experiences. “Bad Play” peels back the tattered curtain to examine the process of putting on a show that is less than good. A stuffy narrator guides the audience through the sorry process—from audition, to rehearsal and the opening curtain. This bad play within a play won’t win any awards, but will keep the audiences in stitches.
“Anyone who has every done theater, or been to the theater will enjoy this farse,“.said Tabitha Cuomo, Youth Theater Director. “This play showcases everything that could and does go wrong in the the theater. From an angry stage manager who wasn’t cast, to a director who is hyped up on coffee and unable to make sound decisions “
The play begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 30 and at 3 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 31. Tickets are $3 for youth and $5 for adults and are available art the door or by calling the Center for the Arts at 495-8989. Island Sounds with John Frinzi & John Patti

Hot summer days call for cool drinks and cool music – preferably infused with Caribbean flare.
This Thursday, July 15, audiences in Bonita will have the chance to experience the sounds of the islands without leaving town.
“Island Sounds” with guitarist John Frinzi and steel drummer John Patti will transport guests to latitudes south. Both musicians travel extensively throughout the US and the Caribbean sharing their energetic and charismatic personalities with audiences.
 The duo will bring a fun evening of Island folk and Caribbean music to Live! At the Promenade. Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Hose wearing island attire will receive a free raffle ticket towards Center for the Arts programming.
The performance is the first in the 2010-2011 season of Live! at the Promenade presented by the Center for the Arts of Bonita Springs. The series brings music, dance and theater to Bonita Springs. The Center for the Arts has a performance space located at The Promenade at Bonita Bay. The Promenade donates the space in order to encourage the arts in the community.
The performance space is equipped with stage, lighting, seating, tables and a bar. Before performances, and during intermissions, audience members enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, wine and other refreshments.
