Fans of Harry Connick Jr. may have heard the brassy notes New York City trumpeter Dan Miller, who comes to Live! at the Promenade on Sept. 16. Miller was part of Harry Connick Jr.’s original big band in 1990 in Dallas. He toured the world with Harry Connick Jr. several times. Miller has also played with Maynard Furguson, Woody Herman and Wynton Marsalis. When not traveling with different bands, Miller plays in New York City and Florida.

On Sept. 16 Miller brings a powerfully swinging jazz quintet to the Center for the Arts Live! at the Promenade at 7 p.m. Playing a program of classic jazz music from the 1950s and 1960s, this group features world class jazz organist Jeff Phillips, guitarist Dan Heck, tenor saxophonist Gerald Augustin and drummer Ron Hefner. Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. The two-hour show includes hors d’oeuvres, wine and other refreshments.
