Classical music lovers rejoice, because the Centers for the Arts of Bonita Springs is launching their exciting new “Meet the Composers” classical music series on Sunday, November 1, 3:00pm at the Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs’ Hinman Auditorium. Join international artist and lecturer, Dr. Anne McLean the first Sunday of each month as she performs in a multi-media presentation highlighting a great composer’s music, fascinating historical insights and visual images of that unique era.
Pianist, chamber musician and educator, Dr. Anne McLean has performed in Canada, the U.S., Australia, England, France, Germany and Switzerland, releasing her first CD in 1992, “Contemporary Connections,” featuring composers of the 20th century. Dr. McLean joined Stetson University’s Department of Music in 1995 where she produced classical music events in collaboration with the Rachmaninoff Society, Stetson University and Rollins College. Dr. McLean began a series entitled “Winter Park Music Fest,” and chaired the Music Advisory Committee for the Festival of Orlando Orchestras.
Dr. McLean’s vast musical and educational background inspired her “Meet the Composers Series,” which celebrates a great composer’s music each month. First in the series: Schumann & Clara, a Musical Love Story. Truth is stranger than fiction. These two love-struck geniuses had a marriage made in heaven, but first suffered many years of separation to achieve their happiness. Enjoy Schumann’s piano music performed live with illustrations that link his moods to actual compositions
To celebrate the first performance on November 1, “Meet the Composers” attendees will be treated to a complimentary, signature Mimosa cocktail. Sit back, enjoy some of the best music ever written, complimented by beautiful illustrations of the era, sip your complimentary Mimosa and share this spectacular afternoon performance dedicated to the Schumann & Clara.
