Fifth generation Master Stained Glass Artisan Stevan Stanisic’s stained glass and mosaic work enliven and adorn public and private buildings across the globe. Stanisic’s family began creating works of art in glass in 1908 in Hungary as the Vitraux Art Studio, specializing in fabrication and restoration services for art glass and mosaics. With over 100 years of family experience creating glass masterworks behind him, Stanisic remains just as passionate as his great grandparents about the art, and through classes in stained glass and mosaics at the Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs, he hopes to pass his treasure trove of knowledge and skill on to willing students.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have this master artist who also enjoys sharing his talent as a teacher, join our faculty at Centers for the Arts,” Says Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs Adult Education Director Donna Delsini

Stevan Stanisic’s classes at the Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs visual arts campus include “Intermediate/Advanced Stained Glass.” In this class that runs for five weeks on Thursdays from 6:00-9:00pm beginning May 19, Stanisic will help students build a beautiful stained glass work of art. Students with some experience in stained glass can choose from ten templates and create unique patterns and colors through Stanisic’s technique of painting on glass with professional glass paints. The unique glass pieces will be kiln fired and then assembled in the traditional foil method.

Tuesdays from 9:00am-Noon beginning on May 17, Stanisic is offering a class in “Intermediate Mosaics.” In this class students will create a project with their own design using vitreous glass tiles. The project will use the direct application method on a polyester base. Glass cutting skills and glass laying techniques will be discussed and students have the opportunity to learn more advanced techniques of mosaic art using stained glass, fused glass, found objects, etc.

Stanisic’s five-week classes will be offered in June and August at the Center for Visual Arts Bonita Springs. Those who are not currently members of CFABS have the opportunity to take Stanisic’s mosaic or stained class for free (supply fee not included in promotion.) Those who join the Centers for the Arts for the first time as an individual member receive a free 4-, 5-, or 6- week class, and those who join for the first time as a family member receive a free 4-, 5-, or 6- week class and two free tickets to a Live! performance. The Centers for the Arts offers this benefit for first time members and it is for a limited time only. The class and performance must be used before December 31, 2016.
